Lemnos is a volcanic island. Although not forests, has extensive plains cultivated with cereals and vines. It also has beautiful and clean beaches and is an ideal island for peaceful holiday.
Lemnos is the eighth largest island. Located in the northern Aegean Sea, the Thracian Sea and with Agios Efstratios are the province of Limnos, Lesvos.
Capital and port of Lemnos is Myrina, who took the woman's name of the first king of the island, Thoas.

Our country has a long tradition in local products, such as dairy, especially cheese ( "Melichloro-" "Kashkaval", "basket"), honey and cereals (nuts, the wheat flour and the flomaria is famous) and also wide selection of wines, white and red with a special flavor because of the volcanic soil. The most famous red wine variety is kalampaki or Limnio (designation of origin). As for the white wine the most popular variety is the Muscat of Alexandria. They are also known and some traditional sweets like "Venizelos" (which took its name from the fact that really liked the El. Venizelos that experienced during a visit to Lemnos after the liberation of the island) and "Samsun "(syrupy sweet sesame wrapped in foil). Interest and katimeria (reminiscent of honeyed bread), which offer especially in the village of Agios Dimitrios.
